Why Study History?

History is a process of inquiry into the past

Studies promote curiosity and imagination in understanding societies, events, movements and developments that have shaped humanity from earliest times. It also unfolds an appreciation of a changing world based on evidence derived from remains of the past by encouraging one to think about human values and  future challenges.

Studies require: 

  1. critical analysis and interpretation of sources
  2. considering context
  3. respecting and explaining different perspectives
  4. developing and substantiating interpretations
  5. communicating effectively
