Geography: Water Management Infographic Assignment

A Land of Drought and Flooding Rains

Water Management Issues

CONTEXT:

The United Nations proclaimed 2013 as the International Year of Water Co-operation. After the success of the program, the United Nations has decided to conduct another campaign to continue the focus in 2018. The objective of the Year is to raise awareness of the challenges facing water management and teh potential for increased co-operation against a backdrop of greater demand for water globally.

TASK:

As one of Australia's leading hydrologists, you have been asked to work as a resource manager to produce a display highlighting our water management issues.

You will be allocated one of the following locations:

  1. Kalgoorlie, WA (Drought)
  2. Brisbane, QLD (Floods)
  3. An Australian city/town negotiated with your teacher

Your display will take the form of an A3 poster (a combination of text, images, symbols and maps) which will be printed and displayed. You must include a map showing the location of your place, a climate graph displaying temperature and rainfall data with interpretive information about these factors, key information about a water hazard and ways of responding to the water challenges.
