Task Context

You have been learning about the Catholic Social teachings of the Church and that violence and war must be avoided as methods for resolving conflict in that they contradict the notion of 'human dignity' and 'the promotion of peace. Christians are called to live out the message of Jesus, seeking justice by acting as peacemakes.

Task Requirements

You are required to research ONE of the people listed  (or one you have independently chosen in consultation with your teacher) and  create a multi-modal presentation aimed at engaging your audience. You must explain why this person is an example for all Catholics, to the extent that they have lived out  the principles of human dignity and promotion of peace. 

Your task requires you to:

  1. a BRIEF biography of your chosen person
  2. a description of the conflict they faced in their time and context
  3. a description of what makes this person a conscientious objector/pacifist, ie. what methods did they employ to achieve their aims
  4. a description of how your chosen person set out to achieve their aims and influence a revolution
  5. a reflection of how this person lived out the principles of human dignity and promotion of peace
  6. some arguments for why this person may be regarded as an example for all Catholics
