Task:

You are to choose an event that is held anywhere in the world, for example sporting, cultural, musical etc., and write a report that: 

  • Explains in detail the event you have chosen – when, where, why, for who
  • Discusses the factors which impact on this event. For example ticket sales, security, health and safety, cultural impacts and weather
  • Outlines why is this event important for the tourism and economy of the host country?
  • Identifies the issues (problems) holding this event will pose on the local economy and local tourism.
  • Explains the causes of these issues.
  • Explains how these issues will affect how people travel to the event and where they visit? Does it affect all travellers or just some?
  • Considers what the experts have to say, what long term impact/s this event have on the local economy and the tourism industry?      Use secondary research here.
  • Shows how this event directly affects the people who live in the local community?

Then state:

  • Your opinion as to whether you think this event is a positive or negative for the local economy and tourism industry. Why/why not? Use evidence from secondary research to support your answer.
  • What does the future of tourism and the economy look like in the host country?
